Milliken™ BioSmart™ technology makes it simple and practical to integrate protection into common medical garments and products. The patented, bleach-activated technology harnesses the proven power of an EPA-registered chlorine bleach, turning otherwise passive textiles into an added layer of active defense against microbial exposure and contamination.
When laundered as directed with an EPA-registered chlorine bleach*, BioSmart™ technology binds chlorine to the surface of the fabric, which then kills 99.9%** of many common bacteria and viruses.
*when washed according to the EPA-registered chlorine bleach label instructions.

Do not use color safe bleach.
I am not recommending any particular brand but when I did an internet search Clorox was one of the brands that came up. It is an interesting read as there are many other helpful ideas ie. how to dilute for general household cleaning etc. for helping in protecting your home from the virus.
Bleach and other disinfectants are not suitable for consumption or injection under any circumstances. People should always read the label for proper usage instructions. Disinfecting surfaces with bleach and other disinfecting products is one of the ways to help stop the spread of COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Our products are safe when used as directed. It’s critical that everyone understands the facts in order to keep themselves safe and healthy.
Clorox sells several bleach products — some are labeled as disinfectants and others are not. To determine if a product disinfects, check the label. All our disinfecting products — registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) — prominently state their ability to kill germs.
Answer given on their website about EPA approved:
You are wise to have a liquid bleach wash as part of your regimen, especially using a public laundry room. No telling what the last person washed and left in that washer. For these situations, I always recommend doing a white load first using detergent and 3/4 cup Clorox® Regular-Bleach₂ with CLOROMAX® to kill any leftovers and prevent them from being spread to your subsequent loads. Unfortunately, our only EPA-registered bleach is Clorox® Regular-Bleach₂ with CLOROMAX®, and I would stick with that. If in subsequent loads you wanted to use a gentler bleach, the Clorox® UltimateCare® Bleach is a good choice, but it is not EPA-registered.
I hope the information above is helpful but I do not endorse any particular product and recommend you do your own research. There are also some guidelines regarding water temperatures.
Take care and be safe! My thanks to Helen Y for sharing her information with us.
