A lot is happening at Q4U
We have several upcoming classes, a community service project, and an International Northcott Block Party starting in March. We hope you find something of interest and plan to join us.Northcott Block Party
Stonehenge is celebrating their 10 year anniversary. Inspired by the mighty and unexplained rock formations found in England, Stonehenge Fabrics is a unique and powerful brand. It was developed when Linda Ludovico created a line of natural textures and presented them to Northcott's President. Linda had many years of experience designing for the flooring industry. The designs were beautiful! The colors were well received with the texture and details and a new line of fabrics were created.
The 10 year anniversary collection is Solstice.
The Stonehenge Block Party will run from March 15 - September 30, 2019. Participating shops will each design a unique block pattern from these fabrics and the fabric and pattern will be sold as a kit. You are challenged to use at least 12 blocks in a quilt design and submit a photo of the finished quilt to Northcott by December 31, 2019. The quilts have to be made of 100% Stonehenge fabrics from this collection. Northcott judges will select 10 finalist's and have them send in their quilts for a final round of judging. Prizes are:
1st The Grand Prize will be a 9-day trip for two to England with a private tour of Stonehenge in June 2020!
2nd $1000 USD and a Stonehenge fabric prize pack valued at $250.00.
3rd $500 USD and a Stonehenge fabric prize pack valued at $100.00.
The three winning quilts will be displayed in the Traveling Stonehenge Quilt Display. Quilts will be returned to owners after the last display date.
The blocks are made in 6 inch increments to a max. size of 18 inches to make quilt assembly easier (6 x 6, 6 x 12, 6 x 18, 12 x 12, 12 x 18, 18 x 18) finished size not including the 1/4 inch seam allowance around perimeter.

The panel quilt also has to be made from fabric in the Solstice collection. We will have a group of distinguished judges to select our winning store quilt. The prize is a Stonehenge Pre-cut prize pack and a special bonus prize as a gift from Quilt 4 U. We will also select a 2nd and 3rd winner with a store prize to be awarded. The deadline is November 30th. You MUST bring your panel quilt to a participating Brick and Mortar shop by this date. The winner will be selected by December 9th. The shops will take a picture of the winning quilt and submit to Northcott by December 14th to be shared on-line. The Northcott Judges will select 10 international Solstice Panel Quilt winners from the submissions. The 10 consumers who made the winning quilts will each win a $100 Stonehenge Fabric prize supplied by Northcott.
Part 3: Traveling Stonehenge Quilt Display
To honor all of the beautiful Stonehenge quilts that have been made over the last 10 years, Northcott will be calling out to the public to submit their Stonehenge Quilts and write a brief description about their quilt. Quilts can be made from published patterns or unique creations. Quilts must be made of 100% Stonehenge fabrics for the quilt top and binding (backing can be anything). The Northcott judges will select the top 10 quilts from each category (Wall hanging, throw, bed quilt) and will ask they submit their quilts to be part of the Traveling Stonehenge Quilt Show display. Information on where to submit the photo for consideration will be communicated at a later date.
The makers of the selected Quilts will each be awarded a Stonehenge fabric prize valued at $50.00. Quilts will be returned to the owners after the last display date.
3 ways to win! Sound like fun? Details on the 9 day trip to England for two:
Stonehenge - an exclusive private visit - you will be right by the world famous UNESCO standing stones, not held back behind the barriers as most guests are.
Bath - to visit the American Museum in Britain with its remarkable collection of folk and decorative arts.
York - to see the splendid York Castle Museum, the world's leading museum of Art and Design housing a permanent collection of over 4.5 million objects including patchwork and quilted covers illustrating over 300 years of British quilting history.
(There will also be plenty of places to visit and activities for the "non-quilters" so this will be a great vacation for everyone!Community Service Project:
Two years ago we participated in the 1 million pillowcase challenge. We had lots of fun, worked hard, and made lots of pillowcases for veterans and surrounding community organizations and finished in the top 3 - participating "large groups" category.
We have decided to participate again in 2019. Thanks to our generous customers we have received fabric for the pillowcases as well as fabrics donated from our shop. All pillowcases have to be made and/or donated during the month of March. We will be showing dates on our website of available times that individuals or groups can come to the store to sew or serge pillowcases. March 1 we will have pillowcase packs available that can be picked up, sewn and returned to the shop by the end of March. In addition if you wish to donate fabrics and make a pillowcase we would love to accept your donation too. Check with your friends to see if they want to join us or participate in the project. I promise you will feel good thinking of the smiles it puts on the faces of the people that receive them.
We will be updating you thru the month on our numbers of completed pillowcases. If you wish to participate, please call the store at 573 443 7858 or you can also send me an e-mail. I will update you in future newsletter on our progress and reminder of sewing dates available.
Another newsletter coming shortly of upcoming classes.
