The Fine Art of Hand Quilting with Bettina

1/2 yd white, ivory or other light color solid fabric, NO WHITE ON WHITE.  Unbleached, perma-press muslin is great.  (The white on white or white on muslin prints are difficult to stitch because of the printing process used).

18 inch square of light weight batting (hobbs thermore, heirloom cotton, organic cotton or heirloom wool.  Mountain mist-light or mini light.  Fairfield - soft touch cotton or low loft.  Dream cotton - quilter's request.

quilting thread to match fabric
pencil and sharpener
quilting needles, size 8 or smaller
silver pencil and/or washable graphite pencil or other removable marker
fabric scissors
18 inch ruler, c-thru or gridded
basting needle ie, a long fine needle
thimble (or other protective device)
1/2 inch or 3/4 inch masking tape
quilting hoop (12 - 14 inch hoop) not an embroidery hoop!
